U4GM: poe2 Verisium Runeforging Basics

Need Journey to the East in PoE 2? Here's what patch 0.5.0 actually confirms about Dannig, Loreweave, Runes of Aldur, Expedition, and the gaps players shouldn't guess at.

If you logged into Path of Exile 2 after 0.5.0 and felt lost, yeah, same. Return of the Ancients didn't just add more loot; it moved the furniture around. Expedition now feeds into Runes of Aldur, Logbooks point you out across the Ocean, and even familiar chase stuff sits in a different box. That's why players checking PoE2 Items keep asking about Journey to the East, Loreweave, Dannig, and what's actually confirmed in this patch.

Journey to the East is real, but still a bit murky

Journey to the East is listed as a quest item, not a normal unique or currency drop. The database details matter here: DropLevel 65, BaseType Journey to the East, Quest Items class, and a Loreweave-themed icon path. The flavour text talks about a collector travelling the world and weaving a fabled garment of rings. The useful bit for players is the Dannig note. It points to Act 4 Dannig, and talking to him is said to unlock the Loreweave interface. What we don't have is the annoying part: no clean drop source, no boss name, no exact Remnant type, and no proof that the item is consumed.

What players should treat as safe info

1. Journey to the East is tied to Dannig.

2. Loreweave's interface rules aren't fully documented.

Runes changed the rhythm of Expedition

The old Expedition feel is still under the skin, but the 0.5.0 version plays slower and meaner. Remnants now act like rune boards. You slot recipes, detonate, and fight waves that scale with every added shape. Some notes say Remnants can have 2 to 10 slots, while a post-patch guide describes Expedition Remnants with 3 to 10 runes. I'd read that carefully, not loudly. General Runes of Aldur content may start lower, while Expedition layouts may usually show more rune positions. Either way, purple pre-socketed runes are the ones most players stop and stare at first.

The fuse chain also changed. Explosives now wait until most monsters from the previous blast are dead, so old "stack everything and pray" habits can get awkward fast.

Ocean exploring is the new Logbook brain check

1. Reach the Ruins of Kingsmarch southeast of start.

2. Use Logbooks to reveal Ocean islands.

Bosses, rewards, and the Olroth thread

Olroth is still the name most people recognise, but now he sits inside a wider Ocean boss chain with Medved, Vorana, and Uhtred. Patch notes say beating Olroth gives access to the Runes of Aldur pinnacle boss. A guide adds more detail: Shattered Triskelion, Verisium Anvil, Makoru, then the Verisium Crater. That sounds like the route players will actually follow, but it's still best treated as guide-sourced until the game itself proves each step for you. His fight isn't gentle either. Watch the sword slam, stay alert after the boomerang catch, and don't tunnel during phase two beams.

Standard league traps are easy to miss

If you came back on Standard and your Expedition setup looks dead, don't instantly blame your client. Expedition was temporarily disabled there during the Runes of Aldur integration, and old vendors in hideouts became non-interactable objects. Legacy Expedition currencies also lost their Currency Exchange role. Some can be sold for Gold, and the reclaim command exists for old inventories. For trading or gearing around this messy patch window, some players still choose to buy cheap Path of Exile2 Items while they test the new systems in-game, but Journey to the East itself remains a quest unlock with missing farming details.
