- Probalan (probenecid) is a medication used to treat gout by helping the kidneys remove excess uric acid from the body. It is available in 250 mg and 500 mg tablets and is often taken daily to prevent gout attacks. Probalan may also be used to prolong the action of certain antibiotics.
