Zithromax is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, skin infections, and sexually transmitted diseases. It is available as Zithromax 500 mg tablets, 250 mg capsules, or in a 5-day Z-Pak (zithromax pack). The active ingredient is azithromycin. Generic versions include Azivista, Azit, and Onazit. It should be taken exactly as prescribed. Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, and stomach pain.
